Wix Vs Weebly – Best platform to build a website

different trying to do a live event instead of just going crazy with the stream so we’re gonna see how well this works I can’t I’m excited about it if it works the way that I hope it works then we can start playing these things out in advance and then that way it’s not kind of a surprise thing that you know we’re live in doing stuff so let me grab this real quick this is my spirit my list of notes cool all right so let’s go ahead and get started
hi everybody and welcome back and my name is Tristan for me to see Odin inja and today I want to talk about the differences between wicks and Weebly since the weekly video and the WordPress comparison video was really popular and we did receive a few questions about Wix during the live event so if we would go ahead and do one of these so again this video is gonna be broken up into four parts just like the other one so we’re gonna talk about
things that I like about each platform and things I don’t like my recommendations as far as when do you teach platform and then where I’m actually and personally using either platform and for different kinds of projects if this information is helpful then please give the video a like so that way it’ll rank a little bit higher and then that will also help more people to find you know who are asking questions about these different platforms they’ll
be able to find this information there are also via Q&A at the end so if you do have any questions feel free to post them in the chat and I will get to them at the end of my little presentation here Oh get up get my buttons on the right place so let’s go ahead and head over to Wix first so who’s going to start talking about Wix and some of the things I really like about Wix I absolutely love the freedom that you have when you’re designing
your site now you can make some really truly beautiful websites using Wix and the process for doing is actually really simple in fact I was playing with it a little bit over here they’ve started messing around with something it’s the Wix Adi it’s the artificial design intelligence so I’m just gonna be pushing buttons on here and seeing what it can do is what I’m talking about this but some Wix is really really cool because you have complete
freedom over the entire design aspect of the site if you want to move your logo a couple spaces over to the right you can totally do that if you want to move your menus you can do that you just click on it you drag it and you drop it and it’s really really simple now we’re gonna be doing this right now just to see how it goes we’re gonna sell pokeball about blank pokeballs because we can do that and so that’s really cool about it I’ll skip
because we don’t have an actual location and honestly the way that it’s set up you know even using something like this which we’re gonna see here in just a second it will actually create the website for you and then you can just go and you can tweak it after you what now that’s not necessarily the only way to do it you can also just get a blank template and start from scratch which is also another very valuable option hopefully it’ll show up here
in just a second I’ve never used this before so I’m kind of curious to see how it goes but the other thing that I really like about Wix in its kind of an extension that first thing is that you have complete control over how the multiple versions of your site’s look so you basically have two different versions of the website if you want to hide something on the multiple version and keep it on the desktop version then you can totally do that if you
want to add something extra to the mobile version that’s not the desktop version you can do that and so that’s really cool and not only that you know as far as being cool design wise but as a usability feature and that’s another really really great option because if you have a website you know that has a lot of pictures that has like really long blocks of text that’s really not something that you’re typically going to want to see in your mobile
version of the site because when I get to pick one of these okay I’ll let it keep going because it slows down the user experience a lot of times you don’t want to read for paragraphs of text about you know widgets or what’s or whatever you just want you know what information is you’re looking for because you’re on a mobile device and it’s naturally gonna be a little bit more oh what’s the word you you wouldn’t be a little bit more direct you want
to get exactly the part that you want to get to and so that’s that’s an important aspect of it and it’s something that allows you to do and hopefully as soon as the sites to finish building our website that we’ll be able to see it this is actually building our website right now just to give you guys an idea it’s pretty cool so the other thing I really like about Wix and so that we’re going to be seeing here as soon as this thing finishes is that
it does have a wide variety of apps that you can you know plug into your website and that can be really helpful if you want to add in some sort of no external function that’s not natively available now you can do the same thing with Weebly but it came to wigs first and that’s something I wanted to mention here like if we go back and look at the now if we look at this right so here’s Wix I’m surprised this is oh yeah it is an animated background
you can see right here the water’s moving I’m not sure if you guys can see that on the smaller screen but if you go to wix.com the water here is moving all right so you can have animated backgrounds you can have animations and things like this this is what you call a called parallax scrolling where you know things move at a different speed you know you can do all these really neat no design functions here for Wix and you can start to do these
things now with Weebly you can see we have the video background we have things that animate in I already scrolled down I like that so you have some movement you have some of this parallax stuff but it came to Wix a long time ago and this is something still relatively new to Weebly so if you want to stay on the cutting edge of all the newest website trends which is probably gonna be your better option so yeah let’s see where we are now with our
website there’s the first version of your home page okay I’m just gonna go ahead and skip all this skip skip skip we already know how to do all this skip skip skip we’re going to talk about all this in just a second skip how many things do we need a skip for your search engine rankings just go away alright so real quick we’re gonna take a look at this if you want to typically what this works if you want to change anything you know you can click
over here and then this will give you all your options as far as doing the designs you can pick your different layouts this is actually a little bit different you can edit content a little bit so they’ve cleaned this up by quite a bit if you want to move this section down you got this right here you can move it down or you can move it back up pretty neato we’re actually gonna see if we can move this one back up to the top because that’s a better
place for it all the way back up it to the top all the way up here to the top there we go so I music it’s you can do a lot of really neat stuff with this now I know this particular setup is a little bit different normally if you were to be doing this without using the the ADI then you come over here it is a little bit different so this is gonna be a little bit more WordPress II if that makes sense whereas with you know what the other features and
you be able to drag and put this thing wherever you want if you want to move your menus then you can totally do that as well it actually kind of like to go over to a normal version just so I can show that to you guys but it still gives you an idea of what it is that we’re talking about I mean you can put text in a square above an image that’s really difficult to do in weave you can do it but you have to use a special plugin for it and so that’s
not always gonna be available but you can see it’s just quick it’s easy and like you said this was actually built by their robot and it’s not bad I think that if we were to fill this up with the right information we could actually do a pretty good job with it so it’s cool the other thing I actually like about Wix is that their affiliate program is actually better and it pays more than we’d sleep or we lease does but you know that that’s just me
but if you are interested in sending it with either of these companies check out the link in the description I don’t actually have a link for Wix right now I haven’t been actively promoting them for a while I guess when that in just a second but if you do that it actually does help the channel here quite a bit because it helps to pay for this stuff somebody has to pay for the electricity so this part is gonna be a little technical and I’m sorry
if this is not something that you guys are gonna be falling because it’s actually even a little much for me but it’s important so um I don’t know whether to add this to the part of you know things that I like about Wix or things like don’t like about Wix there are times where is really helpful in there’s times where it’s a serious pain in the butt so I’m just gonna go ahead and talk about this here so I’m not always a big fan of how WIC sites
themselves are actually built so most web sites are built using HTML or PHP so hTML is something like your Weebly site and PHP is really common for WordPress what WIC sites are built using something called Ajax now this is the part that gets a little bit complicated but Ajax isn’t actually a programming language or anything like that it’s a competition set of tools and languages that you use to make a website so you have things like Java thrown
in there you have your xml httprequest objects and you know stuff like that so essentially what this means is that when you’re looking at a website that’s being created actually when you’re looking at the website it’s actually being created in real time okay there’s no reloading going on and things like that there’s no code to load there aren’t any actual pictures or at least in the traditional sense or even different pages on the site it’s
creating a displaying predetermined content which is what we’re making right here and then it pulls that content from a different server whenever it’s called for but it’s all updating and changing in real time you’re not reloading anything if that makes sense so it’s kind of like watching this video right now okay what you’re watching it’s not reloading it’s not doing anything else you’re watching something that’s being pulled from my computer
being run through you know all of my systems and then showing up on your screen that’s good and it’s bad so like things are good about it is that you can run a website much more quickly these pages are gonna load much more quickly than they would on a like a really CSS heavy WordPress or Weebly theme the other thing that lets you do is like I was saying it gives you a lot more control over the design at the site since you don’t have the same
limitations that you would have with you know HTML or anything like that the other nice thing about it is that if you’re looking at a mobile site then it will actually use up less data and it will load faster and so it makes it easier on multiple users as well now the downside of that is that census is being set up this way then there isn’t actually any code behind it let me see if I can do this real quick and see if it’ll pull up by hit f12 well
show me I’m sure this is what I want to look for basically what’s going on is you don’t have a lot of code here on the site itself what you’re mostly looking at is just the scripts that the system needs so that the browser needs to go and pull that information from the original servers okay so like I said you can see here it’s the scrip scrip scrip scrip script everything here’s a script whereas if you’re to look at a normal website then you
would actually see your your code if that makes sense and so the reason that’s important is because the way that Google and Bing and Yahoo known each other search engines actually determine where to rank your content on your you know in their search results is based off of what they can read in the code now Google doesn’t have somebody who’s just going to your website looking at it going oh yeah it’s a pretty good information we’re gonna go ahead
and rank this it’s sending out these little robots we call them crawlers and it’s a little little bit of code that goes out and scans the entire Internet okay it scans every single web page it scans every single picture and it’s looking at this code right here and so if it for example can’t read your text you know it’s not pulling any of this up over here then that means that it can’t actually read what the site is about it can’t actually read
any of your content it can’t read your keywords you can treat your titles it can’t see your pictures or any of it the site looks empty to Google so way to get around that is it’s a little bit complicated again but they do something that’s called an HTML snapshot so basically what that means is when the crawlers come to the site then they get to look at a different version of the page that’s coming directly from the servers and it’s called a
snapshot okay so normally that’s fine iein has been a little clunky over the last couple of years there’s actually an issue back in 2015 when there is an issue there was a conflict between the Google crawlers and the Wix snapshots where they weren’t meshing together you couldn’t actually get a snapshot from a Wix site on a off of the Google server onto the Google search engines okay and so that meant that since they were looking at all these
sites and they looked pretty much empty they went and they D indexed hundreds and thousands of websites just because because the sites look empty to them now technically it was a Google error and they did fix it but that’s one of the things that’s kind of made me cautious about using Wix again that’s one of my main pterence for using Wix however that being said the site’s dead I’ll come back for the most part and now everything is back to where
it’s supposed to be now SEO or search engine optimization is the biggest weakness that Wix has and again it’s because of the way that these sites have made being made with Ajax and having to make sure you’re getting that snapshot make sure the snapshot is doing and saying what it’s supposed to do and say and you know that has been one of the big issues now Wix has been working very very hard to fix those issues as far as optimization they’re
actually having a contest right now and pull this up SEO hero this is a contest that Wix is currently holding where they are trying to they’re inviting people to go out and to compete with them to outrank them so you can see here’s Wix is now down to number two ah it’s looking to pay somebody some money whoever gets the number one spot gets $50,000 so Wix is here and here and now these are everybody else is trying to outrank them this guy right
here is actually a friend of mine and so if you guys get the chance to do a search for SEO hero watch this guy’s video and then share it like it whatever so that way he can move up to the top he’s a really really good guy I like him a lot it was so like so there they’re trying really hard to improve this particular aspect of their sites and they really are making a serious effort towards it I mean if they’re willing to bet $50,000 that might be
chump change for them it might be significant I’m not sure but it’s they are making that effort so I think that is something that needs to be recognized all right so let me double check my my notes here if you guys are curious about the wicks d indexing I actually have a video on that it should be in the description you can check out that link but to put that into English you know as far as everything light just said if I didn’t make sense then
basically the way that the code works for a wick site is different from Weebly or from WordPress or for the majority of the other platforms out there you can do a lot of things you can’t normally do with Weebly but it can be more difficult to optimize that website and get to show up in Google depending on you know how these systems are being updated and so because of that despite the advances what they’re making I’m still hesitant to use Wix for
any of my client work I’m still kind of goofing around with it as far as like affiliate sites and just to kind of keep up to date on how to use the platform but as of right now I don’t have a lot of websites that are using Wix I am trying to change that I want to bring some of my affiliate sites over here and see what I can do with them and see if there are any changes to it I think like I said Wix isn’t bad it just isn’t the best so our least in
that sense or at least it it didn’t used to be the best that’s that is changing so just something to keep in mind and like I said that that’s one of the reasons I’m not sure whether they count that as a strength that whereas a weakness just because it is a little bit it’s very that’s what I’m looking for subjective you know sometimes it’s a good thing sometimes it’s a bad thing okay so that was the longest most boring part of this entire review
let’s head over to Weebly real quick so I like Weebly because we bleed is simple it’s easy to use and it’s actually pretty powerful with using the different apps which you can see right here and also their premium themes which we were just looking at this is a premium theme by a company called bamboo studios there’s a link in the description because they are some good people they have really cool designs aside for like the really crazy stuff that
you can do with weave or with like WordPress I can do pretty much anything in Weebly that you can do in WordPress or with anything else it’s very simple it’s very easy and it does still have a certain amount of depth that you can get and you can edit things you can change things if you want to so for example if you are comfortable editing HTML and CSS it’s over here then you can do that it gives you access to everything right here if you want to
be really crazy then you can actually make your own apps and plugins and things like that for Weebly and it’s relatively easy to implement so there’s that the other nice thing about it is that the apps that are currently available for Weebly are all built specifically to work with Weebly and so they are all going to work really well and you even have apps made specifically by Weebly and so you don’t have to worry about any sort of conflicting you
know code or you don’t have to worry about making sure things are updated everything’s pretty much taken care of on the backend you don’t have to worry about it it’s very fast it’s very simple it’s very easy it’s very efficient it’s very effective that being said a lot of this functionality is also available in Wix it’s just a little bit different in the way that it’s set up so that is that’s that what I like most about way about Weebly is just
simply that it pretty much always works you don’t have to worry about it breaking down and all the years that I’ve been using it is only actually had one issue with the servers and that’s when it was hacked awhile ago and you know even then it only lasted for a few hours so I suggest we’d leave when you are doing anything like ecommerce because it’s really easy to add ecommerce stuff to this so like these are well I actually that’s already have
this year but if you wanted to add you know an e-commerce section to your website right all I have to do is you come over here you find the e-commerce section you have your products drag and drop it just like that and then you tell it which products you want to add and then give it your design I like this one personally and there you go you just added a store to the website it takes two seconds and that is pretty cool so and actually already have
the storm right here to answer your question real quick I’m going to mispronounce your name is it Bindu Saar if either these sites have features for building membership sites yes they do both of them do actually with Weebly that you can do it you have your members section right here and you can just start adding people to it it is a paid feature and then with Wix if I’m not mistaken it’s the same close this real quick because I actually have had
try to remember where it is they changed all this design around on me but yes which does have a if I can find it it does have a membership feature as well is actually one of the first ones to implement this so good question so actually since we’re here we’re talking about it then as far as pricing let me get this over here weekly is actually a little bit cheaper than Wix depending on what it is exactly you want to deal with it close that real
quick so here’s the pricing for Wix you have just basic stuff is five dollars a month there’s really not a lot of reason to use this because what it’s going to do is it’s still going to leave all of their branding and everything on the on the site itself you can use the combo one that removes everything that’s where you get your own domains and stuff like that it’s ten bucks a month probably the best one is going to be this one right here your
unlimited one and get you pretty much everything that you need and you know talked about site booster site boosters actually pretty neat the form builder I mean it’s okay but they’re already a million tools out there you can use them that’s free oh cool the VIP isn’t bad and now let you do like your online stores and stuff like that you can give that out here at the e-commerce as well so it’s not expensive but if you look at the Weebly stuff
where my other plans go because I already have those features set up so over here this is where you have you know your customizable footers and here’s your membership so you can have all the members that you want and things like that I personally think that membership is easier to set up here in Weebly than it is in anything else and I can actually show you a membership site that I have real quick as well just since we’re already on the subject
it is this one right here and I can show you exactly what that looks like you can write here the settings members oh I removed all my members of thread I forgot you know so this is a website where it was set up as a membership site but I actually check out the membership stuff because I didn’t have time to mess around with it but you can set it up so that way whenever somebody logs into the site and there’s an option here that says login signup
they click on that little pop-up comes up and it says you know hey give me your email your name everything else and then it comes over here and then once they’re members then you can do different things with them so for example if you want to have different tiers of membership they can create different groups so you have you know $20 group $50 group $100 group and then you can give them access to different parts of the site and that’s pretty neat
and then right here you have all the members in general it’s out there to do that probably gonna tell me I can’t because I’d set it down to a free site yep sure is ok so that is an option that you can add to it and like it’s pretty effective I actually liked it quite a bit once I decided to spend more time on this particular site then I’ll be putting that back up but yeah so you can definitely do that I’ll talk about pricing so with Weebly
pricing the difference is when you’re going to be spending a little bit more money on it but at the same time we’re getting access to a lot more options so like it’s kind of good but at the same time it’s gonna be pretty much the same you know it really just depends on what it is exactly you want to do I still prefer Weebly but Wix isn’t bad and actually their most expensive plan right now is $25 a month and the most expensive one you have over
here is 50 so I mean it it’s entirely up to you like I said what it is that you need so these guys will you know they’re adding in these new features you can do email marketing from here so if you don’t want to include something like MailChimp then you can do that from here see what else we can do over here you get the extra stats well sis interesting about this coupon codes you can get real-time shipping rates you can get abandoned card emails
which is awesome if you’re doing anything with ecommerce you can do gift cards on here and again you have your email campaigns you can capture the leads you can do all kinds of other neat stuff so as far as pricing they’re about the same but really comes down to what it is you want however if you are interested in doing it you can actually host a Weebly site for free which is what I have over here let me go ahead and head over to the site
workbook and I’ll show you it’s gaming SEO com this is a Weebly site as you can see right over here but the difference is I’m not actually paying anything for this site right now the only thing that shows up is on the main page it says you know create a free website with Weebly which whatever that’s not a big deal most people aren’t even going to notice or care about that but everything else is on here for free I think is it does have it down
there too so like so if you’re not too worried about having that show up at the bottom of your screen then it’s not a big deal and I actually like this quite a bit as pretty handy we don’t need you so the way that you do that is you first start out with one of their basic plans and then you connect it to your own domain and then you let that plan expire and then it just kind of sorts as a donor which is kind of neat the other nice thing about
doing this and you can do it with Wix as well but they still charge you $5 for it and you still have that same basically you can get this for free by doing this if that makes sense let’s come back over here there we go so the reason that even suggest that you purchase your domains outside of Wix and outside of Weebly in either case is because it lets you have a lot more control over the site itself if you ever decide you want to switch to a
different provider then all you need to do is shut one of these things off kill Wix and decide to connect it over to your Weebly site instead and that’s relatively low – I don’t mean to close that that’s relatively easy to do and so you don’t have to worry about it too much the other nice thing about it is that it gives you access to being able to create your own email accounts for free whereas these guys will actually charge you or is to say how
much they charge you free hosting blah blah blah blah blah it says free hosting but hosting is only like two dollars so it’s not exactly a huge deal um you know it’s what is it I guess I don’t do emails anymore you have to pay for email separately which kind of sucks if you’re doing it with we’ve met Wix and then with Weebly if I’m not mistaken then you also have to you have to do the same thing you they will actually charge I think it’s like
five dollars a month per email account whereas if you have a hosted somewhere else you just hop into your cPanel and you can make your own email that’s totally free so that’s something to keep in mind Wix like I said their their monthly plans are a little bit cheaper but they will nickel and dime you for pretty much everything so like if you want an extra email they’re gonna charge you for it if you want to do any kind of forms they’re gonna
charge you for it and those are all things you can access and add to your site for free so there’s something to keep in mind also if you want to you can actually take even a site like this and you can move it to your own hosting and you can remove this it’s a little bit complicated I have a video on it and I’ll put a link in the description as soon as I finish with this it’s not to go back and find it you can’t do that but it basically removes
all the benefits of having weally if you were to go that route and so if you’re gonna do that you might as well just go with WordPress okay so those are things I like about both plat they’re both pretty cool prices are about the same and I’m still trying to figure out what I think about this one or any issues with rendering on smartphones and tablets that’s another good question it’s actually something’s going to talk about here in just a second
as far as well we’ll start with Weebly so with Weebly then all the pages are set up to be responsive so if you have a different size you know it should always adjust to the size of the screen the problem is that that’s not always the best-looking option like you can see right here it’s kind of annoying and the sad part is that there’s not really anything you can do to optimize or edit the mobile version of your site’s on Weebly and that’s my
primary complaint about this platform that’s what I like the least it’s actually the thing that drives me the most crazy about weally is that I can’t do that you know I don’t want to have all this extra text I want to change the way that this is laid out and that’s really really frustrating to me with Weebly on the other hand I’m gonna let us do it site design see if it’ll let us do it over here one this interface is a little bit different I
haven’t used we are weeks in a while so I’m kind of hold it with wicks though if you have any other you know if you have anything on here that doesn’t look the way that you want it to look as long as you’re not using this ad anything then you can actually just click on this and you can drag it wherever you want you can add in space things out better you can rearrange things you can actually remove sections of content from the site if it doesn’t
fit or if it doesn’t work or like I was talking about before if you have you know these long bodies of text like this and it doesn’t really mesh with the mobile version then you can remove that it’s like that’s one of the really cool things about we about Wix Weebly that’s not really an option and so that’s the main thing I don’t like about Weebly as far as things I don’t like about Wix like I had mentioned before there’s the whole issue with the
Ajax it’s a good thing it’s a bad thing but it kind of just depends on what your goals are also never ever ever ever ever lose your password for Wix because they are a pain in the butt to get your password back I actually have a website that’s still floating around somewhere out there that hasn’t been de-indexed yet but I have been trying to I’ve been trying to shut off the payments for months and I couldn’t do it so they kept charging me every
month even though I couldn’t get this thing to turn off and so eventually what I had to do is contact my bank and how the automatic payments always be rejected from my sites that way I didn’t have to keep paying for to this other website that was really frustrating and that’s another reason that I kind of still avoid Wix is I there’s nothing wrong with their platforms right now I mean they were doing a lot of good work they’re putting a lot of
real effort into like I said the search engine optimization do adding all these other benefits to it but I’ve had so many bad experiences with them in the past has kind of hard for me to get over that so like I said you take that little opinion of mine for what it’s worth and know that it is entirely personally biased so there’s that Wix also used to kind of be able wonky platform to work on it was I what’s the best way doesn’t say it it was a
lot less user friendly in the past and again looking at this new ad I think I probably should have chosen this option I was just kind of curious to see what looked like it is significantly easier I mean at this point if you want to change this you click on it you can type it out this is kind of more of a wordpress e interface actually but it’s not bad I mean you still have all these other you know all these other functions and all other
functionality behind it I mean it’s it is pretty cool boom-boom-boom-boom the other thing is they used to have to add sections to the page I don’t want to add a section to the page I want to add it’ll be done all right we’ll just publish it and see what happens it can be a little bit difficult at times to find the items that you want looks like here your ad I don’t know that’s a list I saw something I want content is that the one nope so odd to
keep playing with that look I’ll have to do a new updated wicks wicks review but like for example in order to find your what’s it called the HTML tabs like to add an HTML element to your site and that used to be a real pain in the butt because you had to you know go through like five different menus in order to find the element that you wanted to actually add to the site so that was a little frustrating looks like they’re kind of fixing that
though they actually did drop their prices I was checking my notes that used to be a little bit more expensive and then the other thing that I’m not a huge fan of with Wix and it’s probably not gonna be infinite that bothers any of you guys is that whenever you have a free website set up through Wix like this is being set up right now well I changed that too well I’ll be I probably should a double check that this like so they have a whole bunch
of new stuff over here that’s kind of neat so we’re gonna change this to test one publishing continue so before you didn’t have a sub-domain what you would have is a B Wix site comm slash your user name slash the site itself so that was really frustrating as well however it looks like they decided to go ahead and fix that and make me look silly here on like Internet so something else to keep in mind as far as since I don’t really like about
Weebly like well like I said I don’t like how they managed the mobile versions of the site this is not something that I’m happy with I kind of wish that they had more apps I think that Wix has cooler apps as far as you know adding functionality and designed to the site whereas when we’ve Lee it’s very functional so like here is calendars here’s your coupons here’s your other stuff you know adding a table to the site I mean whoo-hoo it’s not a bad
thing I just kind of wish they had some more flash stuff that you can do with this as well also unless you’re using a premium theme and you know you have somebody who’s experienced with working with Weebly designs then your designs can be a little bit limited as far as what you can deal with it I am lucky enough to have a very very skilled Weebly designer here on staff and she does amazing work and she can make some really cool stuff and it does
help when you have a premium theme which isn’t available in the wheelie store you have to go and get from somewhere else but that does make a big difference to actually pull that one back up what we’re talking about that and then on a personal note now one of things I’m not a huge fan of with with Weebly is that I have been making weekly tutorials now for about two years I’ve been doing this for a long time I have about 100 videos in total on the
channel a lot of them didn’t have been hidden because of updates and you know new stuff that’s coming out and stuff that isn’t really relevant anymore and it’s kind of hard to hear anything back from Weebly as far as updates that are going out you know I don’t expect to get a personal phone call from the CEO every time to make it change to it but you know they switched out their affiliate program a few months ago and I didn’t find out until a
month later and I only found out by accident they didn’t snout any sort of notification to people you know like us who are actually out trying to promote and support their sell for products and their software so that’s a little bit frustrating as well like I said that’s from a totally personal point of view and that probably isn’t gonna be a big issue for anybody else ok almost done as far as my recommendations for each platform when I would
recommend that you use each platform I would use Wix for anything that is very design heavy so if you are a designer if you’re a photographer if you’re an artist if you’re a dancer here in musician anything that like screams for creativity well you have to have a very creative website you know a pretty website you got to go with wigs it’s it’s really that simple you need to make sure you actually have somebody who can make that design look pretty
otherwise you’ll probably want to go ahead and stick with something like Weebly if you don’t have that creative you know that visually creative skill okay it’s not something that I have but for anything like that where you want you know when the site needs to look pretty then I like Wix also for anything that’s going to be very mobile heavy so like I have a video on the channel I have two videos on the channel I talked about Bluetooth beacons
where the idea is to send people directly to a mobile page then I would definitely recommend using Wix because then you don’t have to worry about you know anything as far as the like the search engine optimization or anything like that because you’re seeing people directly to the website it’s not it it’s not an issue so making that user experience as comfortable and as pleasant as possible and having a mobile website like this you know like it’s
gonna look really really good on a mobile site or on a mobile screen like this oh we are not mobilized we might have to activate the mobile version it’s gonna be a huge help I would recommend Weebly for anybody who’s doing light anything as far as a business especially for e-commerce because it’s so easy to add ecommerce stuff to the site it’s all built-in you don’t have to do anything crazy it’s just right there so that’s really good and the
thing to keep in mind though is that if you’re just gonna be doing e-commerce stuff then you probably don’t want to go with out of these options you probably want to go with something like Shopify if you’re just gonna be blogging then you probably don’t want to go with either these options probably just gonna want to go something like blogger ok or tumblr or anything like that these platforms are best when you want to do kind of a combination of
things so if you want to have the e-commerce store and a blog and you know a video gallery then you know that’s when you would want to come to these particular platforms if you want to have a band website or a photography website and you want to have like the really pretty graphics on the site and you want to have videos available on the site and at the same time you want to have like an e-commerce store so people can buy your CDs maybe postal
buy CDs so you can download their music so you can buy tickets then you know you’re probably gonna want to go with something like wigs yeah another question here how does the community and support between the two compare is far as the developers support so if you’re a developer then I believe weights doesn’t have quite as many options and again because it’s using the it’s built on ajax instead of anything else and so any of the apps or any sort
of extra development that you want to add to the site has to go directly to their servers whereas if you’re doing with with Weebly then you can you can create these apps and everything and you can install them and do everything else like that in fact for the premium things you can install your own premium themes relatively easily it’s a much much simpler process and I believe that develop you know as far as being developer friendly really wins at
least that’s been the feedback that I’ve received from the developers I’ve spoken with who make apps for you know for Weebly and most of them will completely avoid Wix at all costs so I’m not a developer myself I I can read HTML but that’s about it and like so that that’s been the feedback that I’ve received from the people have spoken with but if you are curious about that then shoot me an email my emails in the description and I can get you in
contact with a couple of developers who work with all these different systems and I can get you in contact with them and they probably answer your questions a lot better than I can um okay so the last part of this video just kind of want to tell you guys how I’m using these different platforms you can probably tell them a little bit rusty with Wix because this is totally new to me at least this particular part of the site so I’ve never seen this
ati thing before it’s kind of neat um I let me double check my notes before I get too far into this so like I said I use Wix for anything hypermobile I’m absolutely in love with the idea of using Wix for the Bluetooth beacon support I think that’s gonna be awesome I think it’s gonna work best for like it’s um my biggest concern with Wix is coming from the SEO standpoint you know I want to make sure that people are going to be able to find my
websites and Google and Bing and everywhere else and I’m still very hesitant to do that after the problems that we’ve had in the past so again they’re working very hard to fix those problems they are competing against some very well known SEO is like I said I know this guy right here Tony peacock he is a very very potent SEO he is a very very good person to have on your site and if he’s showing up over here right now number 8 and these guys are
still coming out number two and three then they’re probably you know making those changes that they neither made needed to make here we go but just to be on the safe side if you’re doing anything it doesn’t really require you know driving traffic um searches if you can drive traffic from social media if you can drive traffic from YouTube if you can drive traffic with a Bluetooth beacon then you don’t even care about the SEO you’re already getting
the traffic that you need and so if that’s the case mobile-friendly design focused websites go with wakes if you are I said running a business oh wait I’m supposed to tell you guys what I’m using these things for I am I have a couple of websites still up with Wix I have one that is a translator profile that I made a long time ago and then I have an affiliate site that’s still on here that I haven’t done anything within a while and that was
actually in a website that I set up for my dog so I’m it it it works and I have been pretty happy won’t like I said I absolutely the designs that you can make with stuff like this I actually did something kind of crazy I went I took the background at the site and I placed instead of a background you know like the white or colored backgrounds I actually used an image of a cork board and then I put pictures on the cork board and I kind of designed
up these little like the the polaroid pictures so I made a bunch of those in Photoshop and I put those on there and then I found these PNG images of thumbtacks and I was able to add those to it as well so when you went to the site and I doubt I’m gonna be able to find it again chimp is something like this no it’s not up anymore so when you went to the site it looked like a cork board with all these images in it and whenever you clicked on the
image it would take you to different part of the website so I thought that was really cool and I thought was really creative my wife said it looked awful so that that’s why I’m using works for it and like I said I would like to start doing more Wix stuff I’m gonna start testing it out with a couple different affiliate websites and so I’ll probably do a couple of tutorials on that probably won’t be anytime soon though probably sometime next month
that kind of got on my plate right now for Weebly I use Weebly for a lot of stuff most of my affiliate sites are right now belt with wheelie and the reason why is because you can do things with IFTTT through wheelie the if this than that and so you can automate a lot of the stuff that you don’t normally want to do so like whenever I upload a new post on here then automatically gets sent out to on my social media platforms whenever I upload a
video then it can automatically be uploaded to that you know to the blog so there are a lot of automated functions that you can do with this where is it’s not quite actually there’s any of that available right now with Wix again now I’ll have to double check that because this thing’s new this has just recently come out I use Wix for actually I use Weebly for my client sites because like I said I my main concern there is driving traffic to the
sites and making sure that the site is always working I don’t have to worry about the site going down I don’t have to worry about anything crazy I don’t have to worry about conflicting programs or platforms I’m not worried about e-commerce or about like WooCommerce or anything like that being goofy I really not wanting to play with PayPal or with stripe or whatever I mean it’s just gonna work over here I just push the button and it works and
that’s great for me and it’s great for my clients now sure I’m perfectly capable of going out and working more complicated platforms but like I said most of the time we just want something that’s just always going to work and so we lose really good for that okay so I think that covers pretty much everything I actually hit about four pages worth of script here and I think that that answers all the major questions that you might have regarding

you go with something like Hostgator or Namecheap or any of these other really cheap hosting providers and get your domain and everything through them and you’re going to feel like an extra two or three dollars a month but then you can do all your email you don’t have to worry about it you can get access to things like attractive which is an SEO tool this is really handy that’s gonna be another very helpful tool and likes to get access to that
for free with your Hostgator account how much is how it’s good or charging I think their cheapest plans like two or three dollars a month or something like that find out here in just a second $4 so for $4 and you can get all your email you can get to your attractive you can get all the other neat stuff they even have their own drag-and-drop builders in there so if you wanted to build a website just using that and you certainly can and then if you
ever wanted to switch over to something like WordPress they have a one-click install you just push the button and it automatically installs WordPress for you in like two seconds that’s awesome so that’s pretty neat and then for Namecheap I love Namecheap because it’s so cheap like the name says where is the cheapest one they have yeah they’re cheapest price right now is 10 bucks for a year so that’s pretty good and then it will increase of course
during the next year but you can pay for I guess if you like do one at a time but even still you know with the hostgator at four dollars a month you’re looking at forty eight dollars a year so this is actually still a little bit cheaper or you can pay $10 and get it for the entire year which is pretty cool and this will allow you to have three websites and so lets you have ten with this I’m using it’s called the baby plan and the baby plan is
like ten dollars a month but I can have all the websites that I want on there so I have like 24 different websites on my hosting right now and I don’t have to pay anything extra for it so it’s still like I said $10 a month but divided between the 24 web sites it’s pretty cheap and that’s pretty cool so yeah I hope that answers your question like I said if you’re gonna be doing anything with email hosting I would recommend getting posting
