hello everyone my name is John welcome to my channel today and in this video I'm going to show you how to update the PHP version in your Hostgator cPanel okay so the first thing we need to do is we need to login to your account so when you come to this page here just log in using your details once we log in and we come to our dashboard now what we're looking for here is the software section you can either scroll down the page or you can click on this link right here so if you just click here and the page will scroll down for you ok so here's the software section in the software section we're looking for PHP selector so if we click on that and what we do here is we look for our root root directory for our website which is under public HTML so if you click on that ok so this is our website folders and you can see the current PHP version right here which is 7 so I'm going to see what Hostgator has for me what can I upgrade to so let's have a look at the drop down menu and the maximum we can go to is 7.1 so I'm going to click on that 7.1 and I'm going to click on update once it's updated you will have this little message right here to tell you that your website has been updated to 7.1 so if we go back to the previous page and we should see right here and we have this message here as well you're currently configured to use PHP 7.1 I would recommend going to your website just to make sure that everything is running fine as we're running as it should be and loading as it should be so I'm just going to refresh my page and if there are no problems and it should run fine and there we go no problems there so I've just upgraded or updated my PHP version to 7.1 and that's how you do it in the Hostgator cPanel if you have any questions about this video please leave in the comments box below and I'll get back to you soon as I can if I helped you at all today then kindly I'm like and share this video and don't forget to subscribe to my channel and I really look forward to seeing you on my next video thank you for watching .
