today I'm going to be moving a business website from Hostgator web hosting to site grounds by posting the reason I'm doing this is because I've been finding Hostgator to be far too slow now maybe Hostgator will work fine for you but here in Australia this was my result the first step is to install the SiteGround migrator plugin to do this you can just go to the plug-in directory in WordPress and such for site ground it should be the first result on that after you install it make sure to activate it and then go to the site ground site login and go to the my accounts page click on go to cPanel make sure to sign in to that securely and click Add on domains type in your domain name in the top field and then when you click away the following two boxes should order fill type in your password and click Add domain now click the orange button on the top right labeled cPanel home then you want to scroll down to us WordPress tools and you want to click the WordPress micro 2 icon on this page you want to select your domain from the little drop down menu and then click generate to get your token now you want to copy this token onto the clipboard and then paste it into your website on their WordPress dashboard scroll down to the site ground migrator plugin click on that and you should be able to paste it into the box click initiate transfer and the website transfer will begin after the transfer is complete you'll be presented with this page you've got a temporary link to view where your website is now hosted and the next task is to change your domain name servers over to these new site ground name servers on the right now my domain is registered with GoDaddy so every single domain register is going to have slightly different steps but for GoDaddy just go into the domain management page and click on DNS management and scroll down a little and I'll be in the middle of the page paste in both name servers and then click Save changing the name servers can take quite some time to take effect it could be anywhere from a few minutes to several hours the reason why it takes so long is because these changes have to propagate around the whole world so if your domain still appears to be pointing to your hold hosting just give it some time and it will eventually change over to site round the final step is to activate your free SSL certificate now on the cyclone web site you want to go back into your cPanel I'm going to scroll down to let's encrypt and at the bottom of the page go to install new let's encrypt certificate select your domain from the drop-down list and then click install wait a couple of minutes and then check this page again and you'll see your certificate is active now in the action drop-down list select HTTP settings here you can enable HTTP enforce and external links rewrite this will make sure all content on your website is forced to behave gtps if you found this video useful then please drop it alike if you have any questions or have any trouble migrating your website post in the comments below and I'll try and help you out .
