hi this is steven johnson and i’m one of the editors here at wordpresshostingreviews.com and today we’re installing wordpress at hostgator using fantastico this is a one-click installer that is designed to get you up and running with your wordpress blog in no time so let’s get started okay before you begin you will need a hostgator account which goes without saying once you have your account they will supply you with a username and password to
access your cpanel and the last thing you need to do is have your dns configured which just means you need your domain name pointed towards the hostgator servers if you aren’t sure how to do this hostgator tech support will be happy to walk you through this step one log into cpanel at hostgator you want to go to your domain name cpanel and enter in your username and password and then click login step 2 launch fantastico now that you’ve logged
into cpanel scroll down to the software services section and look for the blue smiley face and click fantastico deluxe step 3 begin the wordpress installation now you are at the fantastico screen look for the blog section underneath there you’ll see wordpress and then click new installation at the time of this recording wordpress 3.1 was the most current in the future there will be a higher number version so you want to make sure you install the
most recent version then click new installation step 4. enter the wordpress site details first you want to select your desired domain name you’ll most likely only have one option here the next is if you want to install your wordpress blog into a subdirectory such as blog or wordpress as a side note if you don’t have to install into a subdirectory you don’t want to it just installing in a subdirectory will add further confusion in the future third
item to configure here is the wordpress admin username for our example we’ve typed in admin but you may want to select something more specific to your site such as your name or something closer to your site for added security the next area here is to add the admin password and of course you want to use something secure and unique to the site now we get into our base configuration and here you want to enter the admin nickname this will be the
field that shows up when you make your blog post then you want to do your admin email address and this should be an easily accessible email address because this is where site updates and other crucial information will be emailed to the next area is you want to enter your site name which should be two or three words that describe your site and the last item to enter is the description and this is just like a tagline usually around five four to ten
words once you have all this entered in let’s click the install wordpress button step five finish installation you will now be presented with all the information that will be created for your new wordpress site so if it all looks good click finish installation step six wordpress install confirmation here you were able to see all the information that has been created for your new wordpress blog and given the option to email this information to you
so it’s highly recommended to enter your email address and and click send email step 7 confirm your blog is working so let’s go to the front end of your site go to yourdomain.com and it should look something similar to this with a hello wordpress and let you know that you have wordpress installed so congratulations step 8 log into wordpress so now that we know that your site is working go to yourdomain.com slash wp dash admin and enter in the
admin information that we just created earlier in this tutorial and click login step 9 congratulations and time to start blogging now we’ve logged into the administrator interface so here you can set up themes start your blogs categories everything that you want to do to get your wordpress site up and going so congratulations you have now set up wordpress alright so that’s how you install wordpress at hostgator using fantastico if you found this
video helpful we would appreciate you liking it here at youtube and sharing it with your friends in addition once you have some experience with both hostgator and wordpress we’d really appreciate a review at wphostingreviews.com it helps the site and helps others figure out the best host for their next blog so thanks and good luck
