How To Upgrade Your HostGator PHP Version | October 2019

In this video I will demonstrate how to change your HostGator PHP version.

Go to your HostGator Dashboard here: https://portal.hostgator.com

This is an over the shoulder training to update PHP so feel free to pause the video as you see fit.

With WordPress, it’s very important to keep your PHP version up to date, as this will increase the security of your site and your site’s performance.

If you are experiencing slow load times with your website, then upgrading your PHP may help your site run faster.

This is a very simple process that only takes a minute or two.

If you have a different hosting provider other than HostGator, you will most likely find the PHP Selector under Software in your cPanel, although the PHP Selector may be named something a little different.

Thanks for watching my video on how to update PHP.

hey this is the wordpress whiz kid here and in this video i’m going to demonstrate how to change your host gators PHP version now with WordPress it’s very important that you keep your PHP version up-to-date because it will increase the security of your site and your site’s performance if you’re experiencing slow load times with your website then upgrading your PHP may help your site run faster this is a very simple process that it only takes a
minute or two so let’s go ahead and get started so what you’re gonna do is you’re gonna need to go ahead and log into your Hostgator it’s portal dot hostgator.com and i’m gonna leave that link down below and below the video for you in the description so you can have access to that so from your dashboard here you are going to go to your cPanel and that is this yellow button here so you’re gonna want to click this launch cpanel button and then
after it loads you’re gonna get into your control panel once you’re in your control panel after it loads completely loads here you’re gonna want to search for a software so under see where it’s this popular links and special offer so you want to scroll down until you see software most of the way down the page so it’s under software and then we’re gonna click on PHP selector so click on that now this is going to show you some information about PHP
it’s gonna show you that you’re currently configured to use PHP and what version it is so I’m currently configured to use 7.1 7.1 I believe right now is yes 7.1 is the latest I usually go with the latest version however you can go with the most stable if you wish at least go with the the highest even number which in my case would be a 7.0 so even if it’s an 8.0 or 9.0 at least go with that because those will most likely be stable and they will
say stable or edge next to them stable means they’re stable releases and edge means they’re like beta tests there’s like white gum there still may be bugs in them so use it as your own caution I haven’t had any problems using the latest even if it says edge so what you’re gonna need to do is you’re gonna need to just go and select whichever one you want usually it’s gonna be the the latest one and just select this and then you’re gonna click on
update and then it says account PHP preference updating and just click back now if you already have your word press up in a separate separate tab or separate window behind this what you’re gonna need to do is either refresh it or log out of it and log back into it and everything will update on its own so hope this found useful to you if you liked the video make sure that you like the video down below give it a like if you liked it and make sure
