hi in this video I'll show you how to transfer your domain registration to another hosting company before we begin there are a few important things to note to avoid any delays please complete all five of these steps before initiating the transfer with the gaining registrar avoid transferring your domain within 45 days of renewal otherwise you could lose that renewal year so let's get started first log in to your Bluehost control panel then go to your domains manager by clicking the domains menu at the top of your screen scroll down and select the domain you want to transfer from the list on the left and then several tabs for the domain appear to the right you'll use these tabs to view and update the domain settings go to the contacts tab to confirm the Whois contact information for the domain the gaining registrar will send critical emails regarding the transfer to the email address for the administrative contact so you need to make certain it is correct check the box for admin at the top and make any changes as necessary also you'll want to avoid using an email address that's part of your domain and use a public email service like Gmail instead next go to the privacy options tab if privacy is enabled click the pause domain privacy button pausing privacy unblocks the domains Whois record so the contact information is visible to the gaining registrar allowing them to send the domain transfer emails to the domains administrator go to the name servers tab and select use custom name servers enter the name servers for your new hosts and then scroll down to save your settings name servers direct the traffic for your domain to the host server if you've already moved the website to a new host the name server should be updated now to minimize downtime during the transfer otherwise you'll have to wait until the transfer is complete it can take 24 to 72 hours for the changes to propagate to every isp worldwide during which your emails will be down and your web traffic will be directed to either the old or new host depending on the visitors ISP the next step is to unlock the domain to allow for the transfer go to the lock tab and click unlock your domain at the bottom we're almost done now that you finished preparing the domain you need the EPP code also called the authorization or off code which is like a password for the domain copy the code from the EPP tab and give it to the gaining registrar to begin the transfer that's all there is to transferring a domain thanks for watching if you found this useful please leave us a comment .
