okay welcome today's tutorial is to show you how to take a simple full website backup if you are hosting with Hostgator which is predominately one of the main hosts that I use for a number of different websites it's important that you have taught take regular backups so that if there's a problem with your website you are able to use a backup to restore fairly quickly by sending it off to Hostgator support for them to do that so first of all we're going to navigate across to a site of mine which is my profit masters website and we are going to enter into our cPanel which is fairly straightforward to access you put in the domain name followed by forward slash cPanel and it will bring up the option for us then to enter the website once we've got through to the website cPanel administration area there is an area called backups and we simply click on backups and we click to download or generate a full website to backup and what you'll see here is details of past backups that I'd done which included one earlier on today before I made some updates to my site so straightforwardly and I'm going to suggest that the backup gets put into the home directory of the website and I am going to ask the system to email me once the backup is being completed and I'll click generate backup and that will set it off going in the background so I'm going to pause the video whilst it completes that and then started up again once it's finished okay we're a few short minutes later and I've had my email through to confirm that the full backup has been completed so if we now click to go back we will now see that that backup is available in here in the system so we could do one of two things now we can either leave that just in the home directory and access it if we need to but if you want to be more comfortable in knowing that you've actually downloaded it onto your system then we can open up file mama manager so in file manager we want to select that home directory because that's where we've actually asked system to place the backup so we open up the home directory and one thing you need to do is be careful that you don't mess around in the home directory you could end up deleting files or folders which are crucial to the running of your site so what we want to do now is we'll have a look and we will see that the most recent backup is this one here which was taken today at literally a few minutes ago 4:18 and we're simply going to click to download that and we're going to save the file and you'll see up there that we've got one minute showing and that will over a period of time we'll download the actual file onto my computer so there we have it that is a simple way of taking a backup of the whole of your website that can then be used to be restored by your hosting provider if it's hostgator should you have an issue with your website okay thanks for listening bye for now .
