Many of the web hosting review sites and “top ten web host” lists you see on the web are bogus. They are created just to get you to sign up with the web hosting company that will pay the owner of that website the highest affiliate commission. Now, notice that I said “many”, not all web host review sites are bogus. The problem is, you don’t know which ones are bogus, and which ones are being honest.
Dreamhost published an article titled “Web Hosting’s Dirty Laundry” in which they uncovered how the sales manager at hosting-review.com asked Dreamhost if they wanted to pay them thousands of dollars to appear at the bottom of their “Top Ten Web Hosts” list. Wow. How much would it have cost Dreamhost to appear at the top of that list… tens of thousands of dollars? That kind of behavior is disgraceful and completely dishonest! Trust me when I tell you, they’re not the only web host review site accused of practicing this kind of behavior.
By the way, on the bottom of hosting-review.com’s homepage, you’ll find this message:
“Whether you want to launch a personal or business website, you want a web hosting company you can count on. You’ll want good value for your money, courteous and accessible customer service and the speed and space you want. Your web host should treat you with respect, and offer you room to grow. The Hosting-Review.com Top 10 is here to help you make the best choice for a web host.”
Wrong. According to the article, their “Top 10” list is there to get unsuspecting visitors to click on their high-paying affiliate links and sign up with a hosting company they THINK is fast and reliable, based solely on Hosting-Review.com’s so-called “reviews”.
Look, there is nothing wrong with getting paid affiliate commissions for driving customers to a good web host. Webmasters and bloggers, like myself, have to make a living like everyone else. But, if you’re getting paid affiliate commissions by lying and deceiving people, then THAT is a huge problem!

that password did I copy and click the blue sign me in button and here’s your dashboard so what you want to do is you want to click this blue cpanel login button and once you’re inside the cpanel you’re going to scroll all the way down to the bottom where it says softaculous apps installer and you’re going to click on this link you’re going to go to the top left where it says WordPress click the blue install button and that brings us to the
wordpress installation screen so here you’re going to choose where you want ww in front of your domain I’m going to go ahead and go without it don’t need it here you would choose your domain that you want to install wordpress on I only have one domain next we’re going to scroll down to where it says site settings and I’m going to put in a site name Green week’s web site speed test next you want to put in a site description this will be like a

word press gets installed this is in real time and you’ll see it only takes a few seconds BAM done so if you come up and click on this link they’ll take it to your home page you can see how plain it is it’s just as white background that’s because it’s the default WordPress theme I’m going to close that and right here is admin URL so I’m going to click on that and this is where you’re going to type in your username and password that you created
during the installation process and type in my password and when you’re ready to log in press the blue login button and this is a wordpress dashboard this is a control panel for your entire wordpress site so you can see just how easy it is to sign up with marine geeks and install wordpress when we took a few minutes and i want to show you something real quick to get back to your WordPress dashboard all you have to do is type slash WP admin on the
end of your domain name and that will bring it to the wordpress login screen where you can log back into your dashboard alright so real quick as a bonus I’m going to show you how to install a free wordpress theme so what you’re going to do is you come over here to the left where it says appearance click themes come up and click add new come down to the menu and click popular and you can see there over 2,000 free wordpress themes such as I scroll
down real quick and show you all the different designs and themes they have available many of these are responsive meaning they look good on any size device and come up to the top here so let’s say you you found the theme that you like and you want to see more details just go ahead and click on the theme and you come down here to lower left and click collapse it’ll show you what your theme will look like on the homepage go and click collapse
again and when you’re ready to install click this blue install button takes a few seconds and what your theme is installed you come down where it says activate click activate and now the Sydney theme is activated you can see the three other things that are installed but only the Sydney theme is activated so let’s look at the home page and you can see here is my title and here’s the tagline I created earlier and that’s how easy it is to install a
