http://www.BasicBlogGuide.com/

So you’ve got a domain you bought from Namecheap and a HostGator hosting account, what next? How do you link the two together? Watch the video to find out.

hi in this video I’m going to show you how to set up hosting for a domain bathroom namecheap.com please note that there are many registrar’s out there and you can buy your domain from a different register but my Registrar of choices name sheet so that’s what I’m going to demonstrate in this video so the first two things that you need to make sure that you have before you try to setup hosting is edging name and a hosting account so go to name
ChiCom and buy your domain first so that’s easy to do if you don’t have an account with namecheap yet so just go over to this blank box here and enter the domain name of your choice and the extension and then click search and the system will tell you if the domain name is still available or not if it is you’ll be guided throughout the process on how to properly purchase it so after you’ve bought your domain the next step is to buy a hosting
account so my host of choice is hostgator.com again there are many different hosts so if you prefer to buy hosting them another hosting you can also do that so endorse Gators just go ahead and click on web hosting here and you’ll be given the options so if you have long domain you’re purchasing hosting for one domain then just go ahead and get patched on plan but if you’ve got more than one domain you can take the baby plan or the business plan
after you bought a hosting plan will be emailed by Hostgator so you’ll be given the details on how to log in to your cPanel so I already have my cPanel open here so after logging in just scroll down and you can see on the Left sidebar here the information that you need name servers so these two this is what you need to be to properly link your domain with your hosting account so just take note of these and then go ahead and log in to your domain
registrar account so I’ve logged into my name cheap account here so this is what the name should – what it looks like so from here just go to domains and click manage domains so this will open a list of domains for you right here so go ahead and click on the domain name that you want to set up hosting for after you’ve clicked on the domain name go to this part here which says transfer DNS to webhost so you’ll be taken to this page here go back to
your cPanel and just copy these two details here paste it there that’s one did this other one here and click Save Changes so it says your domain name service updated so the domain name servers are updated based on your request but you’re not quite done yet so go back to your cPanel here so let’s just scroll up a little all right you need to click on add-on domains so you’ll be taken to this section here so just specify or you need to name name
here – the WWE dot so just go ahead and type the domain name you can also specify in the FTP username which’ll could be useful if you’re going to work on your site using FTP and then you should also specify a password use whatever is generated by the pastor generator here or you can create your own so let me just pause while I complete the details here all right so let’s go ahead and click Add to main him all right so there I’ll just keep in mind
that what you’ve actually done here is to basically just set up your domain name with a host but if you want to start putting content in there let’s say this domain will being let’s say you’re starting a blog so you need to install a blogging platform or tool so in my case my preference is I’d like to I prefer to work with WordPress so I need to install WordPress here first so that will be covered in a separate video so that’s it for now stay
