alright so in this tutorial we're going to cover how to install mediawiki on your hostgator account through quick install so to begin you'll need to be logged into your Hostgator control panel and you can access that by going to your domain / cpanel so in my case I'm putting in a demo URL /c panel and login with your username and password alright once you're logged in scroll down to the software services section here and click on quick install and then scroll down to wiki software under that click mediawiki any of these are great but mediawiki is perhaps the most popular and it's the one behind the infamous Wikipedia so we click on that and click continue so for the application URL this is the path to your wiki you can leave this field blank however if you do it will install the wiki to the root of your account obviously that's not a good idea if you already have a website installed there so in our case let's just make it my wiki and put in a valid email address for the admin email your password will be sent there the versions can stay defaults manual install no wiki name that could be whatever you'd like the call wiki in our case we'll call it my wiki demo enable automatic updates we're leaving that at yes and clicking install now so quick install will begin downloading mediawiki it'll transfer it to your Hostgator account and configure the databases as well as set up the databases with all the necessary tables alright so now we can see that mediawiki has now finished and we can access our new wiki by clicking here and we can see in the URL everything is forward slash my wiki and there it is it's been installed successfully so now what you want to do is check your email that you put into quick install and find the email that it sent you will pull line up here and we'll see the admin panel URL let's go ahead and copy this and paste it into our browser bring the email back up and copy our password will note the username is admin so we'll type admin username and paste our password here and click login alright so now we're logged into mediawiki and we could begin by creating a wiki page so to do that you can go up here in the URL one way to do it is just to and put a new page and it will let you edit that directly so we'll call ours first page for the title and you can see a link here to edit this page and let's go ahead and put some content in there okay now what we might want to do is link to the main page the initial page so we could put in on a qrl for that and we can go ahead and click Save page at the bottom alright so there's our page my first wiki page and we can click to return to main page and from here if we want it to link to the first page that we just created we can click Edit and put in a link here and click Save page and we can see there's a link now clicking that we can go back and forth and everything looks to be configured correctly you .
