in this video I'll show you how to map a Maine cheap domain name to a web app hi my name is Garrett I'm a freelance developer base in Montreal Canada and I'm an azure and VP Vajra rocks is a channel featuring short tutorial videos focusing on one single task while you can purchase a domain name directly in Azure you can also use domain names that you bought from registrar's like Namecheap note that you cannot assign a domain name to the free app service tier I have this domain name that I previously bought at Namecheap and I want to map it to a web app that I created earlier the first thing I need to do is map da record to do this I need the web app IP address I can find it in the custom domains blade by clicking on the customs domains link in the settings section of my app service yes I'll copy it and head back to Namecheap I need to had the a record I'll use the add sign as the host value I'll use the IP address that I copied earlier for the value next I need to add ET see record with the webapp default Oz name I'll get it from the azure portal you I'll click on add and select txt for the O's value I'll use the @ sign and I'll paste the O's name as the value next I need to edit the www cname I need to paste the Azure default oast name as the value you finally elderly dear is Erick record let's head back to the portal I need to add a hostname so I'll click on the add a lame plus sign I'll start with the azure rocks that cloud domain as my old name and click on validate to validate that I own the domain hmm I have a warning here when you make DNS changes they can take up to 48 hours to propagate so I'll pause here for a moment and be patient okay it's been about 15 minutes so let's try again a great I'll click on the add Earth's name button and the domain will appear in the assigned Austen section next I'll had the wwww I'll validate and click on a dos name let's now test this in the browser we'll start with a naked domain you and the ww1 perfect there we go I hope that this video will help you map a name cheap domain name to a web app don't forget to hit that subscribe button to get more videos ideas in the future thanks for watching .
