How to Make Your Own Wix Website l Step By Step | Easy & Simple for Beginners

okay okay hi and welcome thank you so much for hopping on my video where I’m going to show you how you too can make a free website similar to this this is my extra website on Wix using Wix platform it’s easy it’s free it’s really not as complicated as you think it is and I’m going to show you how to do that today so my name is Monique Lansbury and I’m going to just jump right in so that I can show you how to make your free Wix website by now I
want you to look into the the link is in the description on how to create your own Wix account so you have to sign up for your Wix account first before we begin so make sure you get that out the way click on the link it’s in the description and once you have that link filled out and you have your Wix free it’s very free your Wix site account create it let’s go ahead and create your extra website so using that link you signed up you came in to
your dashboard which yours won’t look like markers I have several weeks lights already but you will see this tab right here that says click on I mean create new site and you’re going to click on it so the great thing I love about Wix is they have templates that make it very easy for you to use and to create your own website no matter what kind of business you have i myself from a troubled profession and I’m also a business consultant so I have a
travel site I use the tribal template so whether you have business or photography or food or whatever you want to I’m going to click on other because I don’t see the travel template yet because that’s the one that I want to use to create this site now when you get to this page it’s very important that you don’t select this if you let there Wix ad I create sure your site you’re going to have to pay for that they charge I know when I pet aside with
GoDaddy before a site wait on these to print also Google Docs and nothing compares two weeks what I have learned though if you let them create the site you’re gonna pay like almost maybe $300 the excusing the reason I wanted to create my own is because I want to be able to refresh my inventory or update my my products I want to just you know have full control over my whole website and I didn’t want to have to ax anyone they have designed it you
know what to do or you know they would have to give me tall getting information and things like that I needed full control over my website and it also saves you money because it’s absolutely free so we’re not going to click on this you’re gonna click on choose a template like I said no matter what kind of business you’re you have that’s going to depend on what kind of template you use however just because you have a you know we’ll say a real
estate business does not mean you have to use the real-estate templates and when I say templates these are it’s thousands of templates on here depending on what kind of business you have so we’ll click on music if your arm into the music industry they have different ways of you displaying your your music or like I said the food food has a light and if they have a lot of templates and they’re very very good I’ve used the food template before a lot
of people that consult with me have beauty products so whether it’s hair makeup jury you can use these different templates that someone have already made and just taking out things and putting your information self I love the templates I love the the arm and play idea because it make it easy for us don’t want to pay for a website to just or for those who just don’t know how to make a website and is just saying so complicated you don’t have to
know Photoshop and Adobe and all this other stuff you don’t have to know any of that all you have to know how to move things around how to just work this week’s website bars like just putting your own photos your own content anything that relates to your business so when I say templates you can actually view so I’m on the Travel template I’m gonna use the travel template because like I said I’m a travel professional so you can use whatever
templates you want if you just want like a quick idea to just see you know if that template is actually something that you want you can view view the actual template so you don’t have to click it or use it yet you just want to see if it relates to you and because your website represents you and your business so everybody have their own little you know idea of what you think your website should look like or what you want it to look like so this is
a very simple one very very simple is nice and clean template if you want to use for a tribal business you can do that so we’re going to close that out you and more so will do welcome to Rio and these are hotel templates and you see the it’ll say right here and it’s free absolutely free so they’re just displaying you know what kind of template you want or just let you know about there actual business so I’m going to use the Leslie Blagh let’s
just this one so we’ll click Edit when you find the template that you like you have to click Edit so that it can come up and you can begin to design your website this is the basic layout that you’ll have for your website but you can also take things out and add things soup remember to Like comment you know subscribe to this channel if you like the content you can share it you know just click that little button down below if you’re getting
something from this from this training on how to create your own website and you can also share it sharing is caring you have other people that business owners that you know that don’t know how to make their own website so do that for me and let’s go ahead and begin before we start though let me just give you the basic menu the the key tools of abusing this is the actual I’ll say like the key map page everything that you’ll be using so the menu
this help you navigate the menu pages you can add more things like that this is the background it’s going to change the background this is to add everything on your page and this one is the add app so they have apps like a scheduler or if you have online store things like that and this is for the media and for your blog if you want to have a blog so right now the tabs we have on here is home about travel eat relax and videos this drop down menu
also helps you get to the pages faster so as you see I just drop down and click on about me let me click on travel so these are different menu pages I’m gonna go back home this is a tab help you get to the pages faster this right here is where you’ll be able to view your site on the mobile and a desktop so if you want to see how it looks on both that’s what that is for also very important you want to save every part of your creation so the more
we create the more we’re going to say I’m just in case you know sometimes the internet goes out of things happen and you want to save your work you don’t necessarily have to publish it yet because if someone has your website name they can actually see where you’re leaving off of how you’re changing things around so you just want to keep it kind of private that you’re working in the background before you publish your website and also preview we’re
gonna be using a preview a lot because we’re gonna see how it looks as we keep going so first things first let’s work with this menu tab so you can go right here to the menu and pages meanings and pages because there are some things that I personally don’t need on a travel page so I’m going to maybe rename some things and take some things out so we start with about I do like the about page every website should have a bell or it don’t have to be a
page you can be a section on here what have you about and contact people should be able to contact you if you’re running a business that’s very important they want to know what your business is about or what you represent and that’s a great way to display you know everything about your business so travel I said I am a travel professional so I’m going to keep that travel tab there and eat I don’t need that I’m not a full blogger or blog or
anything like that but if you are you can leave that there but I don’t need it and I’m gonna delete it all I did was click on it I’m going to show you again so we deleted eat I’m going to take out relax I don’t need that one so I left click on here the little three dots and go down to delete and delete that now videos I don’t need that but I might need that page so I’m gonna left click on here but I want to change that name I don’t need it for
video I might want to use it as a gallery you or actually no I’m gonna use it I know cuz I have it on my page actually a tribal consultation so and also a lot of travel agents and people that travel a lot whether your travel agent not you might blog or blog so they have this site is already set up with the blog which is great the template has already set up so but you can’t see it is hidden that’s why you see the little armed line strike through
the eye that’s simple all you have to do is click those three little buttons and go down and click on show I want to show those now maybe in a travel professional I do have like different group travels or tribal groups plan or you might have just different certain trips that you really want to display and you want a fool’ page just for those so you can add pages in right here and make them set up at your so I’ll click on add page and it’s going
to come over here as new page and I might want to put it in Jamaica so I’m going to click done and then I might want to add another page in and let’s see I might want to make that maybe a cruise stop putting cruise and then if you have other pages that you just want to link in your tabs you can do that you don’t have to make a whole new page for that you can add just that link and the way that you do that you’re going to click on link I’m going
to go to my website over here and copy their link whatever links are using if it’s a you know website or Google site or whatever you want to use you just copy their link and paste it in here and make sure it says new window and doing so and this new link will be that’s my points at Cana trip okay now let’s see how that looks you have home Jamaica cruise for Turkana about tribal tribal consultation blog I think that’s kind of long some things can
be minimized I really like my stuff to be in order so if it’s if those are all travel trips from the kind of cruise that you make it that can be under travel and you want to make those sub pages so the way to do that you just take Jamaica and left-click it and make it a sub page it’s a subpage at home right now we’re gonna fix that we’re gonna do the same thing for cruz sir page same thing for Punta Cana these are sub pages now all you have to do
is move them under travel I’m just left clicking and holding it while I’m moving this under travel left click hold it as a movie under travel now I’m gonna move my belt behind travel okay so now let’s see our page home travel travel consultation and blog so let’s preview to make sure everything is showing it right all I did was click preview and when people come to your site they can go hover over travel and they’ll see your cruise your makeup on
Sakana oh I put about under there I gotta fix that but they’ll be able to see and then click on those and it’ll take them to that page so now your menu is not really all drawn out let’s move about I didn’t mean to make that page so all I do is go in and make it a main page okay now let’s go back to home and let’s get the customized in this we want to keep our social bar here you want to be connected through every social media platform that you
have so I left click the two times because I don’t have Twitter so I don’t necessarily need Twitter up there if I don’t have a way where people can connect with me on there I don’t have Pinterest as well for my business however I do have Facebook Instagram and I have YouTube so you can add icons and okay look at all these different if you’re on Amazon if you have a Google Play if you’re on iTunes snapchat wherever you are on I am on Yelp and I am
on YouTube so I’m using a different and you can add as a gallery and then you go in again and add you know and I turn I’m on Yelp if you interpret Iser I mean this gives you so many different options for people to really connect with you that’s the great thing about having a website so I am on facebook Instagram YouTube and yo if you don’t like the way these look you can also add those icons and colors but I don’t mind right now so we’re gonna be
done with those and I want to move these down because I want these inside of my heading inside of my own cover photo so I’m just gonna move them down and I’m gonna move this photo up which would be my cover photo with people as soon as they get to my website this is the first thing they’re going to see so you definitely want this bright in you know just flashing or whatever this is just this is the same the first thing people are going to see
okay come on now okay I don’t know why he’s not letting me move it up oh there it is okay I had the left click it left click it and move it all the way up let’s change the layout because for some reason it’s not letting me arm now I want to keep the strip background for now I’m gonna pull it up so I don’t know why it’s not letting me pull it up but we’ll change the strip back around for now there it is I had to go and left-click on the header and
stretch this and move it up there we go perfect okay so you can see that you can’t actually see the colors on here for my Instagram on my facebook so all I did was left click on it and you go to set social links and for those that’s a little too dark so I’m just gonna delete these two and add the color for one my stuff to stand out I want people to easily be able to connect with me on all my social media and once you get okay so now you have
all your social accounts you have to connect your account so when you this one is already clicked the Instagram you go right here and click on Add Account and your ad whatever your URL is for your every single one that you want on here okay so as soon as they click it it’ll be you take them straight to that page as well as these home icons they’re they’re too light so I’m gonna left click on it one time and this little menu bar comes in and I can
design this now and it’s already designing where I want it but I just want to change that color you can also change the different layout and fonts for your your menu so this is the pretty common one and I kind of liked that one so I’m going to pick that one let’s change this go in places this page this photo Oh change trip background you can go in here and click on change trip background you can use what I love about weeks they have their own
free media that you can use but you can also add your own media so some people use inspiration from Pinterest Google you can purchase photos whatever you want your website to you know whatever content you want that’s where you go and get it and you want to make sure it’s good clear I’m not gonna actually use this something I just want to show you good clear photos like this something stand out and it’s clear also it can be videos you don’t have
to just be a photo so you can use media from Wix I just clicked on a video and they have different media types for you to use if you don’t see what you like all you have to do is click in what you’re looking for in the search bar so I’m gonna put in travel and look at all these different travel arm just inspiration oh let’s see night drive oh wow look at this so change background I never saw this one unless he had a look preview and you can see
you have your now this is a preview I’ll have your actual site we’ll look and that’s the video so soon as somebody goes straight to your website this is exactly what they’ll see you know video plus your social icons they can click on these and they can get to your different pages so obviously if you use this one you would want to bright a color because it’s blending in too much with the page and they won’t see that but this is nice I like this so
we’re going to go back to editor and if you want to change that change all I do is left click change to a background and you can use the image I said medium from weeks all of these photos are free you can search here so if you’re just for example say camping you just put in camping and have all these free media hair if you have a hair business or beauty business or whatever so I’m going to put it in trouble because we’re making a travel site and
there you have it travel photos that you can use they’re good and clear for your extra website so I’m going to just select the photo I’m not going to spend too much time I’m a perfectionist so we try to find the best photos possible which is a good thing for your business because you want to represent your business in the best light but I’m not going to waste too much time on this I’m just going to pick a photo actually let me put in I know what
I want to put in Ireland that’ll make it easier there we go that one uses the airplane one this is cute and I’m going to put it haven’t change background and with this you can’t see these words though and I don’t like that so what you can do to the extra photo to make your word stand out you’re heading sent out and I don’t even want to use these words I want to put my logo here so let’s do that first let’s put let’s take the other day left-click
on this and let’s delete that and this is the tagline everybody should have some kind of tagline for your business so I’m going to add let’s click in air and I’m gonna add a photo which is my actual logo and everybody should have their logo where it’s the transparent background you don’t want to have a logo with the background out here because it’s not just not going to do it you want your your business to stand out in and this day and age
whoever designed your logo you should definitely be except for a transparent logo and it’s great for putting on your logo on top of your photos that’s the best thing about it so then we get my logo and put that in here okay so I’ve uploaded into my my weeks my guest gallery and now it’s in there and once you ask something in there you it’s in there so whenever you need to use it it’s already in there there we go there’s my logo and I’m gonna
leave this tag around as if it was mine I haven’t been everywhere but whatever what it says I haven’t been everywhere it see we can’t read that somebody come to your website they cannot read that we’re gonna stretch this logo out a little bit more all I’m doing this pulling on it by using the corner tabs and I can’t read this though everything has been in and this is not standing out so left-click on your your photo and click on change strip
background let’s set this background and let’s make it a little darker by the way you do there is change the color to black I’m going to do black and we’re gonna change the occupancy opacity sorry and make it you see that the darker the way I’m moving is the more my logo is standing out I love that so you still see the good clear photo on the background but the purpose is you want your people when they come on your website they just see your your
logo so I’m gonna move this let me see I like that and we’re gonna move this over a little bit and I’m gonna just double click on his text on this text right here not no no no not too low though okay on the tagline I haven’t been everywhere but it’s on my list okay so I can move everything over and I want to make this a little bit just a little bit bigger I like to just capture their aha moment soon as they get on my website so let’s see how this
look now let’s just preview our site and it’s not a video but so I’ll need to move this down more to Center you want to Center your logo but I think I think it looks very nice and and clear so we’re going to use that I’m going to move that down so I’m sake incinerate so let’s move the tagline first well let me move this out the way because it’s not letting you get to the tagline no no no okay move the tagline down in the end moved a logo and
let’s move this over here so that there’s overlap I think that looks nice it’s in the middle of the page and let’s see okay now let’s get to the second part which is about sure you know about your business or you can have your gallery so you can put right here you know let’s see so I have on my edge you create your site it looks yeah I can’t save it let’s see oh is the reason I didn’t save it because it’s making me create a domain name which is
fine you can have a free domain name right here you can put whatever you want right here so I can play and that’ll be my domain names Monet website 20/20 but whatever you put right here because the free side is going to always say you know whatever your website your business name is dot Wix icon slash whatever you wanted to play this will never change this right here never change you have to put and words on top and that’s pretty long for a
domain name but hey it’s a free website excuse me so you can’t really be choisi unless you want to connect connect the domain name that you already have then you’ll click here and you’ll get that process started and or you can actually buy a domain name from them so I’m going to just put mine as money website 20/20 and I’m going to save and continue’ there now I officially have that domain name okay so we have our we have our header and we were
working on that’s putting these words here so this is a header for the paragraph and we have the paragraph which is I got from my actual websites I’m just going to left-click it two times and paste what I already have I don’t like the color is too thin it’s too light nobody would be able to see that so I’m going to double click that and change the actual color to black and I want it black and bold and we’re going to move this up such as drag his
left click hold it and drag it up nice alright we getting somewhere so now we have these um let me see we have these little menu options and I think these are really nice too so I don’t really want to change the strip out of here I think it looks nice it represents the business well especially would it be in class excuse me would it be in a travel agency all I’m doing is just making this a little bit bigger bringing it down just a little bit okay
so if you’re talking about so this tap this one who says tribal right but you might want it to connect to your tribal page once they click on here all I do is you can go in here and change the photo and you can also change the wording and link this to a page so first things first we’re going to change the photo so click on just the photo where it says and make sure you’re doing just a photo is going to say click change image you’re going to click
on change image and you can go into the media from wicks and put it in your your business remember whatever your niche is or whatever you’re making this page of and we’re going to put it in so I put in travel so that’s the D in this one with the map actually our yeah okay choose image and you see it change my next one let’s go back to your town so we had travel we had about tribal consultation and we had blog okay so we can leave travel there but
we want to link this to well let’s change the picture spar so change this image because we definitely don’t have to eat go to media from Wix you putting in travel and we just repeat that same process so this will be tribal consultation or about and I’m just going to use this one change their image and this one we can keep the same so we got travel you can leave that front that words the same but we got to take out eat so I’m gonna just left
clicking on that and I’m going to click on change text because I don’t want that to say eat that might say about and then relax we’re gonna take that out so let’s see what we had up there oh we can do blog I should hear that one his blog let me do this one is about let me do this one his blog you okay and I’m just changing the names for all of them so travel I think we should use this one for travel you and innocent can being about doing the same
thing just changing okay if you want to change those colors you just left click here on it again click on design because that blue kind of fades again is not really standing out and you can change the actual button tight the colors of the button or if you just want to change their text on there I kind of like the white buttons but I want to change the text color and make that like okay nice I’m gonna do the same thing for all of these and I’m
actually going to link these two the page is where I wanted to go so let’s change their color the black and I’m going to link these as well so yeah I think I stand out more they’re black customized design and going to text and change the text to black yep there now if you want these a link to certain pages all you have to do is left click again like we were design it but you see there link here let’s click link so it’s already linked to we’re
going to put page it’s linked to the page that says tribal but we’ve changed that name and we want to link it to the about page do the same thing with your bar left click click on the link nope this is linked to the homepage we want to link it to the blog and then this one goes to travel nope let’s link to the homepage as well so where’s travel okay travel rate all right we caught it right along so the next thing I mean you can take this out we
don’t need that all I did was click on it and left clicked it and just click on delete so we don’t necessarily need that now if you want to change one thing you can do is change the full background of the whole page so the way you do that is you left click anywhere in an open space and click change page background as you see the whole page is white you can put in a video photo so I’m going to try video and let me put in travel again and see what
travel videos come up you can put in is let’s try this picture of the world inside that red color relates to what we’re doing so if you want to see how they look we see you can preview the whole page let’s see how to hold pagelet with that roll entire look at that you got the ocean back there and we’re gonna keep that that’s that’s nice okay so we’re gonna go back to editor we just want to see how do they look with the whole background and these
can be your services so if you provide a service like I said these can be different trips so this can lead to Jamaica that Punta Cana the cruise whatever you’re displaying your products so you want people to easily be able to go to and click on them and it’s a good clear picture now one thing that’s good is having photos of yours so on here we have the blog so we don’t necessarily have to have all of these so we can nurse left all I’m doing is
left clicking manage post let’s see what comes up because you don’t have to have all of that on your page if you don’t like it what if you don’t have a blog so this is just your arm your blog site and they’re just letting you know like what’s under these are all your different blogs well if you just want only one of your blog on there then that’s fine you can go here and most the trash yeah we don’t have no likes now lay down there so and you can
do the same thing for all of these you can move the trash and you can only leave you can leave y know however you want to do it if you have a blog we don’t have a loading you can just take the whole thing off because this don’t make sense to have on your page but we just moving these two trash moving these two trash and I’m only going to keep one because you can just debate people like to your blog how many owner okay buy that one or you know
having it there tab that we use they say this is the sort of bogs it’s gonna take them to the blog page anyway so you don’t necessarily need this just all of your blade your blogs excuse me displayed on one page it’s just kind of unnecessary so we’re gonna keep just one there’s one right there and let’s see let’s go down so again we have our Wix site our header we have the about us we have those tabs we’re sending our visitors to where we want
them to send send them to the pages we also have our blog page on here and now we are getting social so we are going to put I’m going to add my YouTube channel YouTube video on my website so I’m going to come right here and click on videos so you want to click on YouTube and long as your video is uploaded in YouTube it can be from a vendor or whatever video and or it can be your actual video channel so I have a video channel with YouTube so I’m
going to insert one of my videos and the way I do that is just change video and search videos and you can put whatever you’re looking for in there I just put in classy weary travelers that’s the name of my my business and I’m going to add that in here and why nah you have your social your video in here from YouTube so I’m your drawing traffic to your YouTube channel then yeah you want to use this method if you want people to you know stay
up-to-date on your YouTube channel now if you want them to visit your or your trying to grow excuse me trying to grow your Facebook or Instagram or Twitter or whatever you’re trying to grow your social media then you can put that in here too so I personally love this on Facebook when I have a huge following on Facebook for my business so I’m going to put in they can actually see all the posts that I make on Facebook out of my website visitor so I
use this link and I just click on here on Facebook and slide it over and let’s make this bigger you and add page name so when they say that was your Facebook ID um wait a minute let me delete this one and let me put the other one in the longer one cuz I wanted to really show show you how he looks so what I’m putting in is this one it’s a little longer you can minimize it you don’t have to be this long however it lets them really really get to see
what’s going on on your page you can add page name let me see my shoe connect with Lessing your facebook name should be at least two characters long okay whatever I don’t have time to I don’t want to pull up my Facebook page and then lose my editing so like I said you can go here at page name and you can put in your Facebook link now this is way too long so I’m gonna go right here and let’s minimize this you let’s bring it up okay come on let’s
make this because this is way too wrong or the square that we use in okay well if not make the square longer for now just for editing purposes but I’ve added okay so I have my blog in here I have where they can connect on mine YouTube now I just want to put in a few words because they have my facebook you can use on Twitter or Pinterest or YouTube like I told you whatever you have so right now I just want to put like a little heading in here and
I know that we can’t read there because the color is too brights are you going to left-click it two times and change that color we can use black and you want to change that therefore if you forgot what font you used for the other heading all you have to do is go up and let’s click on this one welcome to the classy way and there’s left clicking to see what fine and we’re heading so we use heading to and monotype there’s gonna be or let’s say that
thing okay and it was size 40 so now let’s see if it’s already know adding to their dias ok so I’ll put on here less you let’s connect on social media so they’re able to click right on my YouTube and click right on my my Facebook and they can actually just like my page from my website as well so I do like that move this a little bit closer or we can make it a little bit bigger we want to do show website but now we’ve connected we have them in our
little circle so let’s save this for now and then we’ll goes back into it okay so we have our where we act now which is we have our heading I menu on tab we have the about our business a little bit about it we have those about blog and travel those are what we want people to click on and go to those certain pages so these might be your headlining or your promotional products or promotional trips also have your blog on here as well as your YouTube
where they can connect with you or social media as well as your Facebook I have my facebook on there and I also liked it too I like that this link where you can stay connected we can make this as okay I’m trying to make it even okay there is whenever you see they paint a little strip right there they let you notice something is even now what we’re going to add Dave actually on this template remember we had this template already so you can
actually leave it like this pull this footer up and Pam your website is doing but you might not want your photos like that at the bottom or you might want to add some kind of interesting photos in there so what you want to do is let’s go back up and let’s go in between this blogs and this let’s connect let’s move that down I’m left clicking where I’m holding it as I’m moving it down let me see let’s move that down and I want to put let’s move it
down more all I’m doing is left clicking and I’m holding it as I’m scrolling down I want to move that out the way for a minute now what if you want to put some photos like I said of testimonials or people actually using your product or things like that or just showcasing certain products or services or vacations I they have so many different ones that’s on their interactive some that are nice on their traditional just squares where people can
just click on them one of my favorites is the sliding sphere so I like that as well as the 3d carousel and all I did was click on that and there it is it comes right on the page so we’re gonna move this down some and let’s change the photos on the carousel so all I’m doing is clicking on change images you don’t have to keep those images so you can delete our leaves and just start from scratch I mean you know just put your own five or six video I
mean photos sorry or you can just click replace image so I’m going to click on replace image and I’m going to go to the media from weeks and let me see if they have anything that says like Jamaica if now I’ll just use travel island Oh Island you so nice we’re going to use some some of these photos so we’ll use the this one tropical beach click on choose image next one let’s replace that and do the same process you you and we’re just going to pick
photos I’m not gonna spend too much time on looking up you know different photos I just want some nice good clear photos you can also add your own photos so like I said you can go on Google or whatever you want to go and get those nice photos some people use Pinterest I use canva I’ll get up early and travel you know up in an island but that’s fine it’s the travel website so all I’m doing just replacing it the images and just put me on my keyword
on my niche or whatever you you know whatever your thing is okay no no this one is not free so you have to pay for that one I don’t want to pay for anything so I’m going to use free images or unless I have certain images that I’ve already purchased from another place that I don’t want to purchase any photos right now so that’s reporters training I’m just doing free images so and we’ll do one more and we’ll delete that last one you mmm-hmm Island
and that’s fitting this one just to make it okay so we gonna we don’t use we don’t need this and so you can delete it you can put as many as pictures you want on there and that’s what I like about is not a this week’s is not really limited like there they give you so many different options if you want certain photos let’s go back to choose images if you want certain photos that kind of spin around first or to come around you can set it up like
that so I’m just with this one and I’ll leave it like it is so die now the last thing let’s move this down because it’s overlapping and we don’t want anything overlapping we don’t want all our content very clear let’s save this and then let’s sing let’s put in our let’s see if they have it subscribe to us because you want people to definitely yep they have it’s on my mailing list you want people to subscribe to your business you can also put the
