Installing WordPress is a simple matter these days, but you still need to go through the steps correctly, and there are also other steps after the WordPress installation to make sure that your website is sound and secure. The first step to install WP in your HostGator cpanel, is to login to your cPanel account of course, then scroll down until you see the Quick Install icon. HostGator has made using Fantastico for my WordPress installations a thing of the past– Quick Install seems to be a better option. So far, it is always up-to-date with the latest WP version, while Fantastico is usually a version or so behind. And it has installed WordPress smoothly every time for me, so no problems. And since Quick Install lets you choose your WP-admin user name now, there is no reason to use Fantastico.

hi guys it’s Mike WordPress how to’s calm today I’m making a video about installing WordPress on your domain using something called quick install which is only found in Hostgator hosting the Hostgator cPanel now if you have hosting other than Hostgator well switch oh I’m just kidding but you can also use something called Fantastico deluxe or there’s other scripts out there but today’s video is about using quick install so you want to log in to
your cPanel then when you’re in your cPanel just scroll down towards right at the bottom there where it says software services you’ll see quick install and you just click on that now make sure this button is clicked I unchecking what I believe that this is a good thing to have checked so I always have this checked over here you’ll just click on WordPress and it is the latest version of WordPress that your install that I’m installing here which is
a good thing Fantastico is usually a version or so behind which is not a big deal you can update but I since a quick install allows you to choose your admin username now I’ve been using quick install and it’s been going pretty good so just it can continue ok so here we have the domain we’re going to install in but I’ve got a test domain here test subdomain I’m going to install it you can also install it in what’s called a subdirectory you’ll just
make a it shouldn’t exist before you install it in there so you can just make a whatever name you want to type in there and then you can then it’ll be your domain name forward slash whatever your subdirectory name in and then that will be basically a different installation of installation of WordPress so what we do here is well we make sure this little but this little checkbox is checked and then stick in a good email for your admin email and you
can put a blog title in there I think I’ve just put in then you can choose your admin user and you know the only rule I have for that is not to use admin just for security purposes there’s millions and millions of websites out there that WordPress websites that have admin as their user name it the hacker is just one step closer to getting into your site so just for the heck just for the security purposes I don’t use admin so I’m just going to use
something else I’ll just put woohoo and then you can put your first and last name in there and then click on install now okay that took about 20 seconds or so you know sometimes it’s a little faster than that but that’s you know today’s world we’re so so much in a hurry but 20 seconds or so is is no problem installing WordPress compared to doing it manually right here you have your username now it it picks the password for you and you can always
change that if you’d like I suggest having a text file that you keep backed up also on another location that with all your pertinent website information but anyway here is your admin WP admin back-end here you can just click on that it will open up in a new tab and then you’ll want to win I’m going to right click and copy that password and then we’re going to stick in the username woohoo and then I’m going to highlight that and then right click
and paste the password and then click login and you see we have WordPress installed now so that’s as that’s as easy as it gets if you’d like you can click on the users tab and then change that long password and click on your user you can change that long password into something a little bit more easily remembered if you’re going to write down here if you’re going to remember it rather than I have something called LastPass that automatically fills
in my passwords for me and stuff and I also keep a backup file for all my passwords but anyway thanks for watching guys please comment rate and subscribe and as always keep on keepin on take care you
