hello everyone this is lawrence from grin geeks and today i’m going to show you how to install wordpress manually to get started let’s log into our account click client login down here type your email address password then click login to account manager now click cPanel login from here scroll down to and click file manager then click go our directory is empty so let’s go ahead and download WordPress now head over to wordpress.org in the menu
click download now click the word press download link hit OK when prompted to download the file now you can close this box and head back to the file manager let’s upload WordPress by hitting upload click browse and upload your file go back to the file manager and hit reload to see your file right click your file and hit extract now click extract files now close this box from here we’re going to start setting up the file structure so go to the
WordPress directory let’s move all our files up one level click select all right click anywhere in the directory then click move you can move these files anywhere but once WordPress is installed you shouldn’t change it in this example I’m going to install WordPress on the top level domain click this area over here and remove WordPress now click move files our files are now moved so let’s go up a level the last file we need to edit is the
wordpress config right click the file then click rename remove the text that’s a sample then click rename file now let’s edit our config file right click the file then click Edit now click Edit one more time this is our WordPress configuration file we can’t do much here yet because we don’t have a database or a database user let’s set that up now head back to cpanel from here click my sequel databases let’s create our database name I’ll use
WordPress as an example now click create database click go back now let’s scroll down and create our database user in this example I’ll be using WordPress as my database username since there’s a limit of seven characters I’ll abbreviate it now type in a strong password for your wordpress user now retype the same password now click on create user and from here click go back scroll down all the way to the bottom and assign the database to the
database user make sure all are selected then click make changes the database is now assigned to a database user let’s go back and edit our WordPress configuration file in this field over here replace it with your database username and over here type your database users password now type in your database name right up here now we’re done editing our configuration file go ahead and save your changes in your browser let’s open up the location where
you’ll be installing wordpress in this field over here type in the title of your website in most cases it’s a good idea to change the default username in my example I’ll use greengeeks now type in a strong password two times this password is not the same as your database password scroll down to see the rest of the options in this field over here typing your admins email address this address will be used to receive notifications from your
WordPress website now click install WordPress and that’s it you now know how to install WordPress go ahead and click login type in your wordpress username right here and type in your password in this field over here tick this box to have wordpress remember you the next time you log in then click login and that’s it you may now start blogging on your WordPress website if you have any questions you can contact us 24 hours a day 7 days a week by
