What Is A Hostgator Addon Domain? Let’s start by answering a common question that is asked which is what a Hostgator addon domain is? An addon domain in Hostgator is a
domain that you can create within your Hostgator Cpanel. An excellent way to think of it is you have multiple Hostgator hosting packages, and they are all sharing the same Hostgator Cpanel. With an addon domain, you can create email addresses, forwarders and everything else you can do like your primary domain name. To put it in simpler terms an addon domain is how you would add a second website to Hostgator. The addon domain shares the same
Hostgator Cpanel and the server. Hostgator offers unlimited addon domains for all of their hosting accounts except for the Hatchling plan. Here are the steps on How To Add Addon Domain In Hostgator The first step in our add addon domain in Hostgator tutorial is pointing your domain name servers to the Hostgator nameserver. If you purchased your additional domain name from Hostgator, you can move on to the next step as your nameservers will
already be pointing to Hostgator. If you purchased your domain name from another domain provider like Godaddy or my favorite domain provider Namecheap you will need to log in to your domain registrars dashboard and go to the nameservers section and input Hostgator’s nameservers. Unlike Bluehost where they have static nameservers Hostgator’s nameservers are correspondent to the hosting server, you are on with Hostgator. I’ll show you how to
find your Hostgator nameservers so you can add them into your domain registrars nameservers section. When you purchased Hostgator more than likely, you would have gotten your nameservers sent to you in your Hostgator welcome email. If you have that email saved you can pull it up. Another way to locate your Hostgator nameservers is to log in to your Hostgator Cpanel. Once you are logged in to your Hostgator Cpanel, you will see a menu over to the
left. Find preferences and click to move on to the next step to find your Hostgator nameservers. Next, scroll down and over on the right-hand side you will see your Hostgator nameservers listed. You now want to log in to your domain registrars dashboard and find the nameservers section. Here is what the Godaddy nameserver section looks like. Here is what the Namecheap nameserver section looks like. If you need help pointing your Hostgator
nameservers to Namecheap, I’ve provided our video tutorial in the description below. If you need help pointing your Hostgator nameservers to Godaddy, I’ve provided a link to the video in the description below. How To Create Addon domain in Hostgator Cpanel From your Hostgator cPanel dashboard scroll down till you see addon domains under the domains section. You will see create an FTP account associated with this addon domain. Make sure you select this. If you aren’t familiar with what FTP means FTP stands for The File Transfer Program, and it’s a standard network protocol used when transferring computer files between a client and server on a
computer network. Put in a good password for your FTP account. Click add domain. You have successfully created an addon domain in Hostgator. You will see modify addon domain below the add domain button. This section will list out all of the addon domains that you currently have created. You can easily modify your addon domains and easily manage the redirections of the addon domains. Hostgator Addon Domain Not Working? After you’ve created your
