in this video I'm going to show you how to transfer your DNS from your domain name provider to your hosting account dns means domain name system and a dns is what route your domain name to your hosting account in other words you can get a domain name from any domain name company any domain name provider on the internet and you can get hosting account separately from any other hosting account company and yet you can redirect your domain name to the hosting account and this is how we do it once you purchase your web hosting look for confirmation email from your web hosting provider in this case my web hosting provider is hostgator com so check for the email and specifically look for your nameservers now there are 2 nameservers the first one is the primary name server and the second is your secondary name server in most cases you would need to name servers to make sure that your website is available without any interruptions so in this case these are my to be named service the next step is to log in to your domain name registrar and actually edit the details for your domain name in this case I've log into godaddy.com and what I need to do is click on domain and search for my domain name now on my domain name management page i would say that there are already two default dns servers that is assigned to you by your domain name registrar the in this DNS servers belong to the domain company in which you registered your domain name so for example in this case the default is NS 01 dot domain control calm and the primary and the secondary is NS 0 8 dokdo main control com to change this I simply need to click on name servers and simply replace the default data here with the days are given by my hosting company so I'm just going to copy this first one and I'm going to paste it here then I'll copy the second one and paste it as name server to now all I got to do is click on OK and my name servers will be updated to the name servers to the DNS of my hosting company at hostgator com now the actual transfer of your domain name from the dns that belongs to your domain provider to the dns that belongs to your web hosting provider may take up to 24 hours once the dns has fully propagated and then you can login to your cPanel account and start to use your web hosting service .
