Creating a one-page website on Wix

hey what’s up welcome to my second channel my name is kris trini and I’m here partnering with Wix to give you some some tutorials on some very cool features that you can do inside of Wix today we’re starting things off with creating a landing page so this is gonna be just a one-pager where you can have a bunch of stuff that can be all linked together in just one place so it’s gonna be really cool quick and easy to create so let’s jump into Wix
and see how we can get started all right so let’s get started and there’s a few ways that you can log in right off the bat you can do it through Facebook which is person who I’ve done or you can have a login username and password from here we’re gonna maybe select the template it’s up to you you have a lot of great starting points available to you they’re split up in different categories so you know no matter what you’re doing you already can
find something that’s pretty close to to what you have in mind that’s already pretty functional and you know done by by professionals so if you want to have that as a starting point you can see that there’s a lot of options that could be really good especially for landing pages which is essentially what we’re gonna talk about today what we’re gonna do is start from scratch so we’re gonna go under blank templates and we’re gonna just literally
start with nothing and everything is pretty self-explanatory here but you know we’re just gonna take a look at it step by step and we’re gonna really focus on the elements that we need for our landing page so I’m just gonna straight up go into add and we’re just gonna start adding some some elements in this and we’re gonna worry about these other sections a little bit later I’m gonna go under strip and I’m gonna drag and drop one of these strips
I’m just gonna find a design that I like that would make sense for maybe a banner or just the first thing you see when you open your website and for a short film or anything visual sometimes a trailer or something like that could work so I’m gonna drop in this strip and you can see that I can move this around it and all of its elements so not just a strip that contains the video but also this text element and this button over here so I can now
click on this button and anything click on any element that’s visual in my scene I can change and change anything in it so in this case I’m just renaming it to say watch trailer and I could also modify the text if I wanted to but in this case I’m just gonna delete it and put more attention on the button for watching the trailer and then you can click on the strip itself and you change the video that it’s playing so this background right now it’s
not moving looks like an image but once your website is live or your previewing it it’ll have a video so you can upload your own video to Wix I made a little loop for my other website so for now I’m just gonna use that and I’m just gonna click on it and say change background I’m gonna go ahead and add on another strip something simple more more minimal maybe something with columns so I’m gonna select this one over here and I’m just gonna drag and
drop this in my area you can see that it snaps already at the bottom so you can see that kind of line I’m sure it’s centered and I can click on one of the columns I can say Maj column maybe I can just move this to this side so I can click on this arrow and that flips those two sections and then of course for each column you can change the image the color and this will be a cropped version of the movie poster so here I can scale this up and
everything is very responsive you can also go in the settings and you can set some animations or some effects to it such as parallax you can also select the scaling and positioning so you can have original size where it’s just going to display the original size of the file you can also change this text you know fonts the type of maybe preset that you want to apply or you can change the font and do all those things individually to that text
element so that’s all pretty self experience or it’s just what you find in any other type of text editor and maybe change the background of this column to to be black so it looks like that image is kind of going into complete blackness and to complete shadows and of course we want to change your text so we’re gonna make it white so now let’s just go ahead and add another strip right below this one and as you can see I like using strips in general
just to add sort of sections to the website where you can kind of group things together in that way so there’s a nice preset here that says testimonials so these could be some of some reviews that you got maybe some comments and what people are saying I’m not gonna change much for now you kind of get the idea of what this would look like now in this next strip I actually want to change it into an image and I want to show you guys how to add
parallax to a certain section in this case this strip so I’m going to add a background image that I have now if I go under settings to add parallax you can go onto these scroll effects and just select it right there and then every time you scroll over this element it’ll look like it’s further in space like it’s more away from you and that’s that’s what gives that parallax effect with the rest of your website which feels a lot more modern and we
can of course add text in this in this strip so this one will be one of the one of the characters so here I’m repeating those same things and one cool little feature now that we have quite a bit of content and in sections on this on this page is we can go over to this some- magnifying glass and this gives you a perspective from above sort of more of a wireframe look of what your website essentially will look like as a whole on this one age and
from this you can move all these sections around you can even delete certain sections or distance certain sections from each other so this is a nice way of seeing this from a little bit further back so that it’s it’s not so hard to move all these things around when you know you start to get a lot of elements in there and then I actually want this to be a one-page website so I want whatever people want to click on this menu to lead to a certain
section of this one page that we’re on so in order to do that I have to create some anchors so all you have to do is drag and drop these elements and essentially it’s a line that’s sectioning off your website or your page and then from there you can click on your menu you can go on their manage menu and here we can start adding some buttons and linking them to the anchors that we just created so I’m gonna click on this little link bubble here I’m
gonna still stay on this page and I’m gonna select anchor to that kind of backwards that’s the first anchor of the page and I’m gonna name this reviews since our first section is gonna be of reviews that we got then we’re going to create another one the same way and we’re gonna go to anchor 1 and that’s our character anchor our Nova section so we can name that accordingly so you get the idea you keep doing that for your website add as many
sections as you want and then this way whenever you are previewing the website and you click on the menu it’ll direct you to that section of that page and of course here in these middle sections you can add some text some descriptive stuff at this stage it’s really more about getting all your ideas down in terms of where to place things and then I usually just find a good spot for the type of content and information that I want to put on the
website so that was quick easy and painless and I’m honestly so stoked about Wix that I use it on all of my own websites so Chris guard comm which is my main brand my main channel is all built on Wix as well as sometimes want to do client work and certain projects and the client needs a website I sometimes offer those services to be built in Wix or I just recommend them Wix because it’s so simple that you could save a ton of money and even do it
